Smith County Memorial Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in a collaborative, high-volume environment while contributing to an innovative and evolving food service program.

About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on leader who thrives in the kitchen and leads by example. This position requires someone who is confident, adaptable, and ready to contribute from day one—whether that’s managing operations, supporting the team, or stepping in wherever needed.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of hands-on kitchen experience, including time in supervisory roles

• Strong understanding of kitchen operations, logistics, and mise en place

• Ability to lead from the front and work alongside the team in all aspects of the kitchen

• High standards for work ethic, accountability, and teamwork

• Comfort working in an open kitchen environment and interacting with guests

• Willingness to try new ideas, adapt, and continuously improve

• Experience in healthcare food service is a plus, but not required

• Culinary degree or equivalent real-world experience welcome

• Lead and mentor team members while maintaining a positive work culture

• Ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency across all areas of the kitchen
